Sapa is one of the main market and touristic towns of Lào Cai Province in the Northwest region of Vietnam, lies at an average elevation of about 1,600 m in the mountainous valley. It's also well-known as one of the largest rice terraces in the world. Best time to visit is between August and September before harvesting. Unfortunately it was already over when I visited in the beginning of October.
